ABOUT THE ARTIST: BARBARA ARCHER

Born and raised in Swarthmore, Pa. I received my fine arts education at the Rhode Island School of Design, Philadelphia College of Art and Temple University's School of Fine Art. I have enjoyed work as a professional artist for more than 35 years. I've taught drawing and acrylic painting and various decorative arts. I have been a restorer of antique furniture, specializing in marquetry. I spent 12 years as a luthier of banjos, specializing in pearl inlay and wood carving and design on the instruments.
My pen and ink drawings have been published in several periodicals and I have been commissioned to do the illustrations for books in publication. I'm proud to say that many private art collections around the world contain my work.

When 10 years ago a tumor on my spinal cord threatened the use of my legs, I was inspired to turn  to miniatures, as my mobility was limited. Through surgery and therapy I'm blessed to have made a full recovery. Miniature painting has since become my favorite form of artistic expression. In the past year os so I have been returning to larger formats, developing my style into a more colorful, impressionistic interpretation of the world I love.
My choice of subject is limited only by my fascination with world around me.

I love my art and hope it brings joy to others as well.
